So, since we passed through the capital of New Zealand in the past few days we talked to the Russian Embassy to see if we could possible get a visa to enter. Well, the answer was no. No suprise. We had read that on the internet, but were trying to see if we could slide through the cracks. So, for those that don't know. You can only apply for a Russian visa 90 days prior to ENTERING the country. Well, we weren't able to apply until after we left. Plus, we can NOT obviously send in our passports now because we need them on a daily basis. Over the past few years, Russian has discontinued allowing persons to get a visa in a country they DO NOT live in. You can now only apply in the country you reside in. So, we thought maybe we could slip through, but it was a flat NO since we don't liver here. So, our Trans-Siberian Trip is completely rain checked. We are still going to do it. Just not this time around. We didn't know what would happen so we have only bought tickets to Hong Kong (were we would have started our train travels). Now, we will just have to figure out what next. Always an adventure. Just wish we could have jumped on that train!
