Greeting the Sheik (Prince) at the Palace
Thanks to Sean I was able to sleep in while he and the kids enjoyed the beach and collected shells. We were told that the men were going to meet the Ruler of Fujairah today at the palace in the afternoon, so Shemsa (Eisa’s sister) took Mianna and me shopping while Sean and Kyle went to meet His Highness (see pics). Upon return to the house, I was asked if I wanted to go change my clothes and “put on some make-up” (I actually already had make-up on, so I think what they meant was “put it on so someone can notice it.” Mianna and I were then taken to the palace to meet His Highness' wife, Sheika Fatima Al Maktoum. No cameras were allowed and my description of this night would pale in comparison to the actual event.
When we arrived at the palace, we greeted all of the 100+ women who were there with an average of two to four kisses per person. We then waited for Her Highness to arrive where she greeted everyone with kisses. Mianna and I were the only two in the room not wearing the abaya (Muslim women’s head cover), so we were treated with a bit of reserve. We were at the palace from 10 P.M. until 2:30 A.M. Of course, Mianna fell asleep about 2 hours into the night, so they offered her a bed in one of the rooms while I enjoyed the evening of many phases (coffee, incense, dinner, and waiting to say “goodbye” to the Sheika). I had a very nice conversation with the Sheika’s daughter (a real princess) about The Huskys that Sean brought for her brother (for those of you who have experienced our Husky adventure, you’ll be relieved to know that Logan and Allie are soaking up their well-deserved life of luxury and now have their own vet). We finally made it back to our new hotel at 3:00 A.M.
