Family of four visiting friends in United Arab Emirates, Dec 2007.

Madurodam-The Tiny City

At the recommendation of our friends who lived in Amsterdam, we used our 9-hour lay-over to take in a few sights.  We took the train from the airport (the kids loved seeing the countryside and a few authentic windmills), then a tram to Madurodam, a fun attaction that has miniature replicas of buildings from all over Holland.  Although it was cold (38 degrees), we enjoyed it.  Then we took the train back to Amsterdam Central Station to eat dinner and take a walk before our flight to Dubai.
