Since weâve been at The Cooperâs house for every New Yearâs Eve that we can remember and the Grandmas have been more than willing to party with our kids, this is the first time we can recall ringing in the New Year together as a family. The night began with one last shopping trip with Huda to search for new larger dog crates, but instead resulted in a new sequin dress for Mianna, complete with headband, tights, and sparkly shoes. Sean and Eisa went to pay condolences to Eisaâs colleague and they returned to take me with them to Ibrahim and Jackieâs house for a quick bite to eat (âquickâ in the Arabic world is anything that takes less than two hours). As promised, we made it back to Huda and all the kids in time for the midnight fireworks show viewing from their balcony. Around 3:00 A.M. (weâve now joined the Blanchard/Hatley âlate-stayer clubâ) we were worn out and collected our stuff to walk back to our hotel, but Eisa and Huda insisted on having our family stay in their guest room, so after much ado, we crashed and slept until noon (well, almost).
