Mianna and Kyle with Eisa's father and mother (the big smiles are for the 500Dhs he just gave them for Eid).

Eisa’s hometown of Fujairah is located on the east coast of UAE on the Arabian Sea.  It is a beautiful growing city full of historical Mosques and agriculture adjacent to skyscrapers and modern neighborhoods.  Our last few days have been spent meeting Eisa’s family, who have treated us like we are part of their family.  They hold their traditions very close to their hearts and there are many formalities to be observed when visiting people, even family.  A tradition that Kyle and Mianna quickly got used to is that of receiving money for Eid.  We had an enjoyable visit and dinner with Eisa’s father, Harib and then the men returned to the sitting room while the women leaned on pillows on the floor in the hallway.

On Thursday Eisa took us for a tour of Fujairah where we saw Father’s orchard (“farm”) where he grows mango, lemon, orange, and banana trees.  It is his pride and joy and I took a beautiful picture of Sean, Eisa, and Kyle as the sun was setting into the mountains.  Our evening ended with a family dinner and a move into our new hotel, the Hilton Fujairah Resort.
