After another quick boarding of the Yasawa Flyer, I quickly said 'Hi' to Chris who had been staying at 'Bay Of Plenty' the previous night & asked him 'how was it?' He turned around and said to me, 'I was the only one on the Island'. At this point I was thinking to myself, how cool it would be, to be the only backpacker staying on the Island!
Shortly after saying my sharp goodbye's to Chris again, I was on a little motor boat with three other Fijian guys heading towards the Island, a bit worried! On arrival, I was kindly greeted by the rest of the Fijians, It was like I'd just imposed upon a Fijian family.
Once settled in, I met my very own guide called 'Jacob'. He was really nice & explained all about the history of the Island,. Shortly after this we hiked up a mountain because Jacob wanted to show me the whole village from up heigh & where he used to attend school when he was a little boy. After our hike, I was introduced to Jacobs friends, shown how to open coconuts & watched how they played touch rugby.
As the day grew older, It was time to eat, this had to be the strangest/touched dinner I've ever experienced as the Fijian guys played their guitars & sang to me for the whole duration. I felt rather moved by this and took this moment in, as I doubt it would ever happen to me again in my lifetime.
After a wonderful meal, we went & watched a movie (Born To Fight) with the Fijian boys, I fell asleep halfway through it but still managed to find my way back to the little dorm on the hill where I slept very well.
