Weekend in Brussels (with a trip to Liege airport)

Right, well this is my first blog so who knows how it will turn out!! And please be gentle if you decide to leave a comment:)
Myself, my brother and a cousin of ours (also Jim) journeyed to Brussels for a weekend break and to see what the city had to offer. We flew out from Dublin airport and were due to arrive at Charleoi but were diverted to Liege due to fog on the ground. It was 4 o' clock by the time we arrived in Brussels due to the delay and so got a bite to eat, found our hostel, and put our heads down for forty winks.
We woke round 7 o' clock and made our way to Celtica bar to watch the New Zealand- France QF match and despite the NZ defeat a good night was had by all. Of course the copious amounts of alcohol may have had something to do with this:)
Due to our delay on the saturday we needed to fit in all our sight-seeing on the sunday.
We headed first for the Atomium, which really is an incredible structure and gives wonderful views of Brussels from the highest point. Having left the Atomium we made our way through several beautiful parks visiting the vintage car museum, the main town square, and the mannequin pis on our way. We capped off our day by watching Argentina win their QF match before making our back to the hostel and settling down for the night.
We were up at some ungodly hour on the monday morning for our journey home, which was pretty much a reversal of how we arrived. Charleoi (which i gather from my trip is the french word for fog!!) was again surrounded by fog and so we diverted to Liege airport and from here back to Dublin. Despite this Brussels left a wonderful impression on me, and indeed Belgium as a whole, and is definitely somewhere i would like to journey through over a longer period in the future.
