Plane arrived safely with no delay. Actually it was the best flight I've ever been on. tons of leg room, fantastic views, friendly staff, inca kola (best soda ever). Screw anyone who was talking smack on TACA on this site.
Got picked up at airport at 7. Arrived at hostal with group of 4 Bulgarians. Funny language. Tried to talk to them about the one Bulgarian soccer player I know. Couldn´t think of much else besides their capital and neighbors.
No effects of the altitude so far. Kind of came to our room and took a 4 hours nap. No hot water this time of day. Just took a cold cold shower. Going out for lunch and soe basic shopping.
*edit Came back. walked through cusco. amazing city. lots of inca slash mediterranean architecture. got solicted for money very often.
ended up eating on a balcony restaurant in main square (plaza de armas). had an alpaca cheeseburger. not bad. better than turkey burgers. went to a juice and EUREKA, they have starfruit. got them to make me a juice from pure starfruit and mineral water. one of the most intense and enjoyable drinks ever (although ive already said that about inca kola)
walked through the city more. bought a cheap 5 buck watch that was probably ripped off a tourist. might buy some cool soccer jerseys they´re selling. argentina or germany?
got dinner at paddy mcflaherty´s, the self-proclaimed highest irish pub in the world (5000 feet).
chatted with these 2 limeys and 2 micks we met there. funny group. amir asks ¨do you know any places to play soccer around here?¨and gets ¨play WHAT?¨as a response. they were honestly confused, not being pricks about us messing up their sport´s name.
that´s all. shopping tomorrow for inca trail supplies. pics to follow
