The beginnings of Monument Valley

Shonto Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

The plan: a 3 week car trip covering as many sites as we can fit. About 4,500 miles, and include California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Wyoming and back again. Many National Parks. It ended up over 5,200 miles, 1,800 pictures.

The beginnings of Monument Valley

East of Page, Arizona we are back into the desert of the southwest.  Mile after mile of open sagebrush land, blue skies, fluffy clouds, and pretty straight roads that seem to go on forever.  Yeah, like so much of the southwest US.

We even stopped to take a picture of one of the flowering bushes along the road, a beautiful pale lavender and pink that just drew our attention.

Okay, so back to the landscape.

We are into the beginnings of Monument Valley.  As nice as some of the formations are they only get better from here.

And they continue.
