Hellooooo from Chiang Mai! Its a really nice hot day today and we are having a day off from all the stress and hard work of travelling about and seeing things!! We had a well deserved lie-in this morning and have been lounging by the pool this afternoon! Ha ha!

We left Bankok on Monday afternoon having had 3 nights there. On Friday night we went out for a few drinks with my friend Vicki who is also travelling at the moment. It was lovely to see her and very surreal that we met up in Bangkok after not seeing each other for about a year and a half!

On Saturday we spent the afternoon at the Ocean world near Siam square which is really good! It had one of those glass tunnel things you can walk through and so many big fish and sharks and stuff! The Ocean world is one of the best aquariams we've been to! Its located inside a big shopping mall which me, Vicki and Miriam decided to go to on Sunday for a nice girly day and some serious shopping therapy! I also had my hair cut - which I was very nervous about but it was fine! And it only cost around a fiver! We still can't get over how cheap it is over here!!!!

We arrived in Chiang Mai on Monday afternoon along with Rosie and Karina who have come to Thailand for a 3 week holiday and are with us for a couple of days in Chang Mai then meeting us at Xmas too! Yay!

Yesterday we went on an elephant trecking tour (again!), which included a visit to a couple of hill tribe villages and a ride down the river on a bamboo raft.

The elephant treking was really good but me and Ads were on the naughtist elephant ever (the only male of the changs)! It decided it was a bit peckish along the way and proceeded to pull down half of a banana tree to eat while we clung on for dear life! Of course our elephant refused to move while he ate his tree we decided to do a little singing with mahout - he actually recognised the Chang song when we sung it to him!!!!  We also got our guide to tell us the other verses of the chang song so we can write it down to learn. We now have all the words and intend to learn them all and sing it to every Thai person we see !! :)

We visited the night market last night and will be doing the same tonight!!! Its massive and sells just about everything, clothes, shoes, handbags, keyrings, handicrafts... deathstars - you know, the usual!!!

We have spent quite a few days now in Chiang Mai.

very Scary bamboo bridge !!
It's been nice chilling in one place for more than 3 nights, we've actually unpacked (well thrown clothes out of bag on the floor).  We've been all round the city looking at the various markets and bars, restaurants of course. I (adam) have had a couple of tough days where nobody would sell alcohol as it was election voting days over here....that was tough. I had to watch an Everton game in an irish pub with coke and coffee.....but we won AGAIN so was very happy. Aims and Mim went on a Thai cooking course one day and learned to cook 4 dishes each. Aims cooked Tom Kha (Soup), Spring rolls, Spicy Papaya Salad (Som Yam), Red curry and sticky rice and mango. Mim went back down south to sun worship a bit more while we stayed here for 7 more days. We saw ANOTHER temple on the top of a big mountain at Doi Suthep, great views of Chiang Mai but unfortunately it was a bit hazy so that spoilt the view somewhat.

Those steps tired us out though. We are now on our last day in Chiang Mai and heading back south to Samui then to Koh Phangan for our xmas party week(s) (14 days). We are meeting a few people there (Bigs, Ben, Dave, Mim, Rosie & Karina) so it should be a good laugh and very messy no doubt.

Merry Christmas Everyone
