Why Lonely Planet was right...for once

Dakar market really is full of the worst (or best, depending on how you look at it) street vendors in the world.  I really don't appreciate being called racist, told to go back to my own country and kicked because I don't want to be followed around, talk to someone trying to sell me something or be dragged into a shop to buy something I don't want... It's such a shame because I know that Senegalese people can be so welcoming and friendly - their motto is Teranga after all which means welcoming - but if anyone came here just as a tourist they might never know, some twit (change the vowel) could just spoil it for everyone!

I know what you mean. The market in Bamako, Mali also had it's share of aggressive people. And then there's the Dakar airport...that is a truly scary place! And I also feel the same way about the crafter's market in Negril, Jamaica. They don't seem to realize that that kind of aggression isn't going to sell a thing.
