Camp is over (and just beginning...)

The campers singing a camp-adjusted version of "I've Had the Time of My Life..."

I'm still in absolute denial about it, but yes, camp is over.  The campers all left yesterday and it was a little sad to see them go.  Today, however, all the counselors left and it was absolutely heartbreaking.  Living 24/7 with people for 8 weeks, you get to make some pretty special friendships and right now I feel pretty devastated.  I'm staying on to work at Family Camp for a week, so it was especially hard as we had to watch absolutely everybody leave and be left behind.

The last couple of weeks just flew by & the last week of camp was absolutely jam-packed with special events.  We had a counselor picnic where we all left & abandoned the campers.  The next day we had Kanakawards, which was an awards ceremony the campers organised whilst we were picnicking - we had a green carpet & all got dressed up & there was security & paparazzi & fans & each department won an award - it was heaps of fun.

The arts & crafts team get ready to party...!

We also had banquet night, where everything is decorated beautifully & there's good food & special songs & that was another good night.  And last night after the campers were all gone we had a counselor banquet, with really good food and margaritas on the porch and then we partied into the night!!

I'm sure there have been hundreds of other things happen too, but I just can't remember it all right now.  We start organising family camp tomorrow - it's at the same campsite, but obviously it's families and it's a much more relaxed schedule, including hors d'oeuvres in the garden every night!  Then I really will need to plan the rest of my adventures...
