St. Patrick's Day in Old Sac!

I had no intention of actually venturing out on St. Patrick's Day because I really needed to get caught up on work and prefer not to risk all the crazy people on the roads but my craving for corned beef and cabbage won over my reasonable side!  :-)  Every year in Old Town Sac, there is a  St. Patrick's Day parade which draws quite a crowd.  There are a few Irish pubs in the area too which help keep the crowds around after the afternoon parade is over!! Well, my neighbor and friend is a part-time bartender at the Delta King and she was stuck working that night.  I felt bad for her and once she texted they had corned beef on the menu, I was sold!

I just moved to Sacramento a year ago so I did not see the St Patrick's Day parade last year and figured if I was already going to be down in the area, might as well see it.

It was cute, not entirely what I expected but still fun nevertheless!  But now...liquor and corned beef time!!!  Somehow I started off with a raspberry lemon drop, moved on to a glass or two of wine with dinner, then shots - irish car bombs, and an oatmeal cookie.  Finished off the night with something green....midori margarita.  LOL.  Just thinking of the mix of beer, wine, and hard liquor makes my stomach and liver churn!   I am so surprised I did not end up on the floor passed out (ok, maybe I did later) or sick somewhere from all the alcohol I mixed that evening but I survived, no hangover either!!!  I even vaguely remember coming home and trying to send a couple coherent replies on TB!! :-)))

It was a fun night and a great crowd at the bar and although no green beer, I got to hang out with my girlfriend and eat probably the best corned beef and cabbage I've had in a long, long time!
