I figured I better create a blog for all my adventures in my new home! I love living in Northern California so far as all there is to see and do up here - I can't imagine living anywhere else again...ok, except Belize of course!!! :-)) **Under construction**
Best Texas BBQ in Sacramento
Texas West BBQ has consistently been rated as one of the best BBQ's in Sacramento so I had to check it out for myself. Seeing that my soon to be ex is from Houston, he and his parents would be a good judge of whether this is good Texas BBQ. He and his parents LOVED it.

You order at the counter and sit at one of the few tables inside or take your food to go. It's a very casual place - also known for their catering.

Some of the awards/notable mentions have been: One of the top 10 restaurants in Sac by the Sacramento Bee Newspaper; Best ribs and also best bbq from Sacramento Magazine; and Best BBQ - Readers Choice Award - Sacramento News and Review.

Their menu is pretty extensive and they will make combos out of pretty much anything if you want something that isn't paired exactly right on their menu. Two of my favorite things are hot links and brisket. They don't have a combo of both but obviously, no problem! Their platters come with two sides - I had their baked beans (which have quite a spicy kick) and cole slaw. If you like spicy, be sure to ask for their special hot sauce. Oh my! LOL.

The hot links and brisket were both the best I've probably had. The brisket was so soft and tender it practically melted in my mouth. The hot links were prepared perfectly - the skin held the juices and flavor in.

Their menu features appetizers, sandwiches, salads, ribs, combo baskets (w/1 side), the combo platters and even burrito wraps! Dessert is an option too - peach cobbler being one but we did not order dessert this time. Will have to try it next time! They have beer and wine but I will say as a Texas BBQ fan, I was disappointed in their beer selection. I would've assumed at least one Texas offering...preferably Shiner Bock but nothing! I ended up with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale but that is not the best to pair with BBQ. They also apparently have wine but I did not see what offerings they had.

If you like good Texas BBQ and happen to be near the greater Sacramento area, I definitely recommend stopping by. They also have locations in Roseville and Folsom.
