Dinner Party for Liz (Quest)
I wanted to get a few friends together in honor is Liz's visit from Norway! My original plan was a nice dinner out somewhere but my friend Milt talked me into doing a dinner party at home! A lot of work but it ended up being a great time! Liz made her infamous cake from Norway, called "World's Best" which was heavenly!
I made blue cheese stuffed bacon wrapped dates and raspberry almond baked brie in a puff pastry shell for appetizers. The dinner was from a restaurant in Belize that is included in a Belizean cookbook I brought home last year with me. We had pork tenderloin with a maple butter rum reduction sauce, garlic green beans, and gorgozola cream au gratin yams/sweet potatoes. I had already made coconut rum creme brulee as well.
A lot of food, an even larger amount of wine and fun times with new and old friends!We ended up with a mini TB meet up of sorts! Me, Liz, a newbie to the site, Lynn (Bluemountainadventure), Bart (Becroes), and Tobias who recently cancelled his TB page...boo! HAHA. Also were a few of my local friends, Milt and Kimberley, and one of my neighbors, Cindy. We had a really nice night and although I wanted to strangle Milt for all the stress of cooking all day, I will admit he was right...we had a much better time at the house than we would've at a restaurant.
It's also ok cuz I will get Milt back on Thanksgiving since he's doing all the cooking for a big group of us at "orphans" Thanksgiving! :D
