...But You Could Die.

I am in a state of extreme content.
In fact, I am in danger of dying from an overload of contentment.
That would seem to fit the statement I made earlier today describing my resort here on Havelock Island.
"It’s beautiful and wonderful… but you could die."
Not from being too content though. I’m staying at a resort called Sunrise Beach Resort. We’re using the term "resort" very loosely now. The fanciest lodgings here are fancy because they’ve got concrete walls and private bathrooms. Plus, you get actual furniture, although just a bed and a table.
Not cheapo me though. I’m living in a little thatch hut standing on stilts with giant, gaping holes in the bamboo floors. I’ve got a thin mattress and a shelf.
The rustic nature of all the resorts on this island is what is so appealing to travelers though. "Rustic" keeps out all those regular holiday-makers. You know the kind. Really, this place is like camping by the beach, but with more comforts.
All the huts form a wide semi-circle giving a sense of community amongst us travelers but allowing enough space for privacy. On our little resort are some basic communal bathrooms, a restaurant with only one long communal table, and a bar hut (obviously the largest structure on the grounds). And all this shaded nicely under a grove of coconut palms by the Andaman Sea.
Hence the "you could die" part.
You see, several times a day we’ll get that brief warning swoosh followed by a dull, hard THUD. That is the sound of a coconut hitting the ground from roughly 30 feet above.
I would worry but I’m too content to work up a fuss.
Maybe this is how one can die from extreme content.
