Day 43 .... traveling from Hoi An to Saigon

Well today was another travel day! We had the last of our booked flights from Danang to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). After settling up the hotel bill ... the most expensive one we have had yet ... we got a taxi to the airport in Danang. The international airport in Danang is quite simple and would only be described as a regional airport back home. It consists of 2 simple buildings one for arrivals and one for departures!. It does suffice though!! After the 30 minute taxi drive we arrived with about an hour to spare before our flight. It took us only about another 20 minutes to make it through check in and luggage security check something you would seldom experince in other airports in other countries! After that we experienced our first official delay of our trip so far . .. our flight was 20 minutes late! I know its not a big delay but after 6 weeks travelling around Asia .... it's surprising that this is the first official delay!

The plane that was shceduled for the flight was a Chaina Airlines plane and when we arrived on the runway to board the plane ... i've never heard as many worried passengers asking questiuons to whether this plane was going to Saigon/ Ho Chi Minh City or Beijing!! They really didn't have any faith in the small airport in Danang!!

Our flight was uneventful overall. We did get the now customary light lunch on the plane and again it turned out to be a welcome treat! The only other exciting thing that i thought was the fact that this was the first plane I had been on that had an inflight phone!! It was another kodak moment!! Oh ... the other thing I forgot to mention was part of the take off ..... when we were waiting for take off ... there were Vietnamese Jet Fighters taking off from the same airport. One just before we left and then i did manage to get a picture of one of them taxing out just after we took of!
