Day 15 ... the start of another marathon track
Today we got breakfast in Loy Fa for the last time, packed up our things and started our long 2 1/2 day journey from Koh Phangan to Chang Mai.
As part of the deal we had got a transfer from Loy Fa to the ferry port and then the ferry over to the mainland again. When we reached the port we were actually going on the fast ferry so we thought we would have a much quicker journey that the previous 3 1/2 hour one! That was until we realised we had to stop off on Koh Samui the neighbouring island for drop off an dpick up passengers. The ferry did get us there a little earlier, taking only about 2 1/2 hours to get to t mainland an dwe were much closer to Surrathani as well ... closer than the ferry port that is. We had to get another bus to the centre of Surrathani on on the way there we stopped off at a little bus stop to get something quick to eat. They had some lovely fried rice and I also splurged out on Pineapple for desert!
We arrived back in Surathani with about an hour to spare before our train left ... so we just sat outside a cafe, drinking coffee and watching the local people of Surrathani going about their daily lives!
The train back to Bangkok was much like the train the other way ..... noisy, cold and bumpy. We did have a few more beers though to try and increase the chances of sleep on the train. Maybe it was and wasn't a good idea .... tomorrow would tell!
