Me vs the Micos
October 24, 2007
And the winner...Micos. Like I said, i am a novice paddler, very novice. But I felt confident, if anything would go wrong, I had an olympic kayaker with me to help. Well, I did not survive the first few seconds in the boat. I flipped over immediately, and since my suicide roll is shakey at best, I decided to sit this one out.
So me and the Brits met the brave souls halfway down, and had lunch by the river. Ben told the woman running the restaurant we wanted lunch for 7 people. They brought out food for 14. She brought out tortillas, rice, and beans. Then for dessert she brought out the ubiqioutous corn on a stick. They put cheese, mayo, and chili powder on em. Not my idea of delicious. The cooked tasted like it should have been cooked longer. The total bill was extremely cheap. It is amazing what they charge for food down here.
The rapids are less fierce from here down to the campsite, so the Brits took the inflatable kayak down with the rest of the crew. They had a great time, and only suffered a couple of capsizes. Tonight we had dinner in town again. This time we ate at another vendor on the street called El Grinch. They had great tacos for, again, very little pesos. After dinner, we drank around the fire again.
