If you visiting Langkawi Islands and don't have much time or you just want to have a quick look from the "outside" at the main island of Langkawi and it's surrounding isles, the daily "Island Hopping" is a quick and cheap way to archive it.

A boat ride will takes you to "Tasik Dayang Bunting" (Lake of the Pregnant Maiden) to find the legend about it's freshwater lake.It is the largest lake in Langkawi. Some people believe the water in the lake possesses mystical power of helping barren women to bear children. Why it is so. This is the story:

"The outline of hills and rocky outcrops on one side of the lake resembles the shape of a pregnant maiden lying on her back. The name of both the island and the lake is attributed to the legend of a lovely fairy princess who married an earthly prince.

Her first child died shortly after birth. She was so sad and depressed that she buried the child in the crystal clear waters of the lake. Before she returned to her celestial abode, she blessed the waters so that any childless maiden who bathed in the lake would conceive thereafter."

How true is it, i also don't know. :)

Next, the eagle feeding island, "Pulau Singa Besar".It also known for its wildlife sanctuary. When the boat arrived at the spots, I saw lots of eagles circling high about in the air.Visitors didn't get off the speedboat for this island. The guide threw some chicken organs into the sea. Then suddenly, the eagles each started to dive down onto the surface of the water in a swift scoop and grab the tossed organs.I tried to snap photos but darned birds, why can't they fly slower! My digital camera is not fast enough to take a good snap!

Lastly, the mean of relaxing is "Pulau Beras Basah".Visitors were given permission to take a swim at the beach. The sea water is clear and I can actually see my feet at the bottom of the sea. It's a nice beach.

That is all for island hopping in Langkawi....
