So how many people can you fit in a 12-seater van?  20..  no, 24...  Wrong again.  If you guessed 26 including luggage, children and two very squashed (but still smiling) gringos, you were correct.  Fortunately this was only an hour long trip.  Unfortunately it was lengthened by the fact that we stopped every 5 minutes two let people off and on, involving a complicated reshuffle and introducing your crotch to peoples face (and vice-versa).
We eventually arrived in the highland market town of Chichicastenango (Chichi).  Our trusty Lonley Planet guide say that "when shroded in mist, Chichi is magical".  We couldn't help thinking "you'd need a hell of a lot more mist".  To be fair we had arrived 2 days before market day and this was obviously a market town.  Everything was closed until the eve of the market and it looked quite dead (drunk).
We toughed it out until the Thursday market, which was really quite worth it.  Seeing all the locals carrying in tons of produce on their heads and the bustle of the local mayan in traditional garb was cool.
