0075 Not the real Lebanon… (USA 041—new)

Since coming back from Malaysia all I’ve done is revisit memorable towns from my past.  It’s been fun--  to play music in places that had some symbolic meaning to me.  But today I want to discover someplace new, so I head straight east, beyond Harrisburg to the small city of Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Lebanon is your perfect middle of the road kind of town… neither big nor small, neither boring nor exciting, not too fancy nor too scruffy… I hike all the way across town past residential neighborhoods and the remains of industrial complexes… take a pause in a shady little park to play some music… then back to downtown to visit a cozy little indoor market.

“Where’d you get that guitar?” a butcher lady hollers out.

“I bought it in China a couple years ago” I respond…

She goes on to tell me that she’s a banjo player in a local band and shows me a couple of pictures.  It’d be nice to chat a bit more, but she seems pretty busy…

I wander up a short stretch of Main Street where I take a video clip… then on to George Washington Tavern—where if I’m not mistaken, George Washington stopped by to have a beer once upon a time…

A pleasant little tour of Lebanon…
