So let's catch up from where I left off.. going to the beach. What a beautiful beach... So peaceful, lovely warm water and beautiful clear sands. I could get used to this lifestyle, but gotta move on..
So Ho Chi Minh City - I was hoping this wasn't going to be another Hanoi and thankfully it's not. Yes there's a lot of traffic, but it is a lot more organised. The city is so much more cosmopolitan as well - loads of good restaurants / hotels. Went to the Rex bar for drinks - what a place!
Next day, went to the Cu Chi Tunnels - a tour highlight - I loved going through the tunnels on all fours. Such a real experience. Also went to the War Remnants museum which is quite harrowing - graphically depicting atrocities from the war. It's tough viewing but very worthwhile. Tonight am going to a Sports Bar to watch the Premiership big games and enjoy a few jars before we move on to Chau Doc tomorrow.
Time for a summary of my Vietnam experience - a true mixed bag, Hanoi is a truly depressing city, Halong Bay is great but suffers from too many tourists and too much hype. On the plus side, Hue and Hoi An are beautiful towns whilst Saigon is a proper vibrant big city.
Photos to follow - my camera has died on me so bought a new one last night - upgraded again...
Next update will be from Cambodia. Till later
