Arrived back in London after 6 weeks on the continent for a bit of relaxing.. and more sightseeing! Got to meet Alex's new man, baby Ethan... so cute! He was only about 4 weeks old and just adorable. Did a sightseeing bus tour of London and got to see Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Royal Albert Hall and Harrods etc. I must admit i felt like a true Londener at Hyde Park - the weather had been pretty miserable on previous days, so since the sun was out, i simply had to sunbake!
Spent a day on a boat cruise to Greenwich - made sure I stood on the GMT line. Also had a day of shopping down famous Oxford St. Visited Shakespeare's Globe theatre - it's the only building in central London that has permission to be made of wood since the great fire hundreds of years ago. Soaked up some modern art at the Tate Modern and also visited St Paul's cathedral. The walk up to the dome was well worth it for some great views. Made it to the Tower of London only a couple of days after Australia had lost to England in the world cup, so the 'beefeater' (guard) who was taking the tour made sure to mention this several times! Sore winners i say!
All of this was amongst catching up with friends for some great dinners, Irish music, rugby watching and drinks. Definitely a much needed rest after the craziness of being on the road for six weeks. However, after two weeks in London, it was time to move on again....
