Guenther House

I was craving breakfast food at 12:30 p.m. and the concierge at the Marriott at Riverwalk told me to try Guenther House. After a Trolley ride I got there and thought it was going to cost an arm and a leg to eat there since it's in a beautiful old home (I was picturing old ladies wearing hats and sipping tea, LOL!). I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the prices are comparable to Bob Evans or Denny's. I asked the waitress if I could get half an order of the biscuits and gravy and I could for $2.50. I also ordered a short stack of pancakes (2 instead of 3) and got pecans added on top $3.75 plus $.50 for the pecans. The biscuit is not your typical short round dense kind. It’s square, tall and fluffy. The sausage gravy was so good! I start in on the pancakes and I think I went up to heaven for a few seconds! So yummy!!! I had ordered a coke. So for the food, drink and tip I got out of there for $11.00 and stuffed! The Guenther House, as I found out when I made a trip to the bathroom, is actually a historical home so don't forget to look around. Anytime I go back to San Antonio, I'm definitely stopping by this restaurant for breakfast!
