Cristo Rei

My second day was an eventful one!

In Lisbon, they have the Statue of Cristo Rei (Christ the King) which was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil... In order to reach it you have to leave Lisbon alltogether, take a ferry to Almada, and catch the 101 bus all the way up the hill to the statue... It is a breathtaking sight in itself but while there do marvel at the great view of Lisbon from across the river :)

After the statue, me and my roommates decided to take a break from all this history and we went to the Oceanario de Lisboa... It is the second largest Aquarium in Europe and is a great place to unwind and enjoy yourself.

..  If you are there, make sure you catch the beaver, he loves the attention of the crowd and puts on a show for the viewers!

At Night it was off to the Castelo de Sao Jorge, the castle overlooking all of Lisbon... As you make your way up the confusing and steep streets, which were specifically designed inorder attackers would get lost on the way to the castle, you realize the effectiveness of that plan...

The view from the castle is again amazing, and is worth the long trek...

At night, the staff at the hostel suggested a local bar in Alfama called Chiputo, which had a great view of the river, Christo Rei, the bridge and had awesome wine!  It did not dissappoint, and even thought it was a hard place to find, we were happy we did... On our way back we stopped into some Irish Pub, and the party continued there... Thankfully the roudy Irish faithful have departed by that time or were too drunk to do anything...

Good time!!!
