Studying abroad just doesn't mean partying and drinking, it means assimilating into the culture, learning the language, speaking the language, interacting with spaniards, eating spanish food "tapas", accepting the differences, opening up your horizons, being patient, and searching for yourself, for who you are. This is my life, this is my year abroad in Granada, Spain 2007-2008

Mi residencia en la plaza catedral
In the beach city of Cadiz, in the region of Andalucia, Spain, is where I began my journey abroad on July 16th. After over 15 hours of flying and finally landing in Spain, dirty, smelly, and tired, it was amazing to realize that cadiz was the place where we would be living for 5 weeks. Our "residencia" located in the main plaza in the old part of town, "plaza de la catedral", our rooms had a view of the cathedral and its towers, the beach and the sunrise. It was a dream that it was our first home in Spain.

With packed beaches, tanned spaniards, and an energetic night life, it was a perfect intimate city to begin to practice my Spanish speaking skills. Everything is fried in cadiz and everything is fish. Fried prawns, fried fish, calamari, fried everything! the people were always smiling and the atmosphere was so exciting and summery like southern california and hawaii during the summer season.
