Day two...
Woke up real slow... like molasses slow and it took me a little while to realize where I was. But then hopped out of bed (the bed is so high up I need to jump to get in ;) got dressed in my favorite gargopants, readied my backpack and took off to find a place to get some breakfast.
Since I already did the whole Cafe du Monde thing yesterday I decided to go the Rivers edge across from it. Found a little place in the corner to update my diary and make a couple of calls when the waiter came over and asked me what I wanted.
I opted for the waffles, coffee and OJ. When the waffles came they were big enough to sail to Cuba on it, but they were mm mm good.. and the coffee was excellent. Now the waiter ended all his questions with honey or sweetheart, I noticed some other people doing that as well, so I asked him if that was normal, he said, yeah, it's kinda like a stop word here in the south. Makes everybody feel welcome.. well.. it worked on me. So we got to talking and he became a good source of information for me over the days to come.
So today I decided to go the plantations. I did some research online and came up with a tour group that did 2 plantations in 1 sitting, so excellent. Below you can read the experience in my review. After that I went back and waited for the Halloween parade to start, but didn't have the patience, so many people were already in costume walking around, so I went back to the hotel and dressed for Halloween!. ehm... well... I'm not going to write about the rest of my evening, since everything you write can be used against you ;)
The Oak Alley tour was great, the ladies were all in costume and I indeed walked the grounds with a mint jullep in my hand. Very gone with the wind.
The Laura plantation was totally diffrent since that was a creole plantation, The woman ruled there like nobody's business ;)
The lady that gave the tour was excellent. I would defenitly recommend to do this tour!!!
