Jungle love
October 13, 2007
Saturday has arrived, and we pack up slowly and with dragging feet. The night before, we arranged to have a water taxi pick us up bright and early to take us to airport and then from there we are getting picked up to go to the Maruba Jungle Resort. I had spotted a pamphlet for the Maruba Jungle resort, with this colorful add that showed these people pained in mud and photgraphed in the jungle... I was intrigued. Turns out the resort has a special two treatments, transportation, and food for $180.00.... not too bad. All of us could think of no better way to end our vacation than to be pampered and scrubbed down and in a unique environment.
As we arrive at the airport, a young gentleman greets and escorts us to our ride. It takes about an hour to get to the resort, which is deep in the jungle and off this well worn dirt road that serves as one of the main highways of Belize. The resort itself is amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. Over the next several hours we were treeated like treasured guests. The mood mud massage was absolutely wonderful, the pictures hilarious, the clean off in the outdoor tubs unique and the honey/ sugar scrub was skin soothing. Afterwards, we relaxed in the mineral pools and then ate another great meal in the outdoor patio area.
From here, we get a ride back to the airport and back to civilzation. Jen catches the first flight; Jon, Kara and I the last flight. It was overall one of the most memorable vacations and has already prompted me to start planning a return trip to the Central American area. The people were welcoming, the scenery indescribable and the activities created hobbies for my future vacactions. Thanks to all the people who contributed to making this vacation so great.
