Let tomorrow be ..
Other days
Walked out to find something to eat. At lunch was so crowded with Indian. Since i was there, i met tourists not more than 4 couples! Where were they? No one come here??? ... Anyway, along the way had many many places to eat. Food shops on the street, some look so yummy! Most of Indian were eating there coz it's easy and cheap and quick and etc. Some of them wore suit and tie but they were there eating with hands as a traditional way to eat Dalbhat, main dish here. No chair, stood up and ate. I wanted to try ... ok its look was not so clean but when many people were there, i bet that was the nice one!
Then we back to the same way and found "Turkish Corner" ... with many menus of KEBAB! A menu is in English but can't translate anyway coz it's a specific name of the dish.
So i picked one, lucky that it was what i wanted :D Chicken Kebab!! :D As we knew, they don't eat beef .. only buffalo meat and chicken there. :D Tasted good!Finished Kebab, walked back to the hotel, passed one CD Shops, the seller said Hi to us ... then .. became a long conversation after he knew where were we from and after he spoke Italian with Ale haha ... everyone always say "i got one italian friend, .. :D No one says "i got one Thai friend" hahahahaha ... But he's nice guy. "Normen" is his name. Half India-English. He's more than 60 years old but is strong and happy and look more younger (more than Ale!! I thought!! haha). He talked to us from pea to warship haha ... He's the first person in India that we could understand an english with indian accent very well.
I'm not the one who has a good accent too but in India .. wow more difficult to understand ... they are nice, but maybe because of me :D Silly .. as well :D We said goodbye to Normen after we talked about the way of life. He left us with one thing "you will never know anything if you don't know yourself" ... wow!Good to speak to him and glad to know him too. He's really nice but never find the end of the story if he started haha. Too bad that we haven't had more time to spend with him. We exchanged our emails, surprised that he got one .. he's 60! But incredible Indian indeed. He loves India. Even he's half english but he doesn't want to stay there. Cold, he said and lonely coz his family is in India. :) Ahhh, he told us a secret to be more younger than he is ... "just smiling" .
.. shiva schanti!:D
This trip, we planned to stay each city only 3 days and moved coz we wanted to visit many places from East to West, if we could .. maybe to the North. Everyday we always discussed about "what are we gonna do tomorrow? or Where we are going to? And always ending with "Let tomorrow be" hahaha What a good companion we are!
So ...
There has many interesting places in Calcutta such as Rabindranath Tagore (Concert Hall), Academy of Fine Art reminds of Rapintanat Tagor who is the Nobel laureate poet, a writer, and philosopher. He also was the ambassador of Indian culture to the rest of the world., St. Paul Cathedral, Marble Palace, Nehru Children's Museum, Hooghly Ghats where we haven't been there .
.. We started with Indian Musuem but unfortunately, it's closed on that day!I know I've missed some nice places but when I was there... i don't know.... India had made me lost the way. Or maybe i was so panic to think about how to spend the holiday there. Before i started the trip, I got a mail from a friend who was going to stay there for three years but after four months, he went back to his hometown. He said India is crazy much more than he could handle. Wow!! Also he was stolen his passport and even contact lens! Not only a warning from him but many many in Lonely Planet and other Thai guide books also ... and since i stepped here, not so many thing that was so impressive. Had to be aware every step. Don't feel comfortable when walked out.
I'm not sure it's because of I was too Panic by myself or something made me feel that. But anyway we spent time in Calcutta more than we thought .. without noticing. Realised again, it's the fourth day now. Why are we still here??? Why we have to listen to the HORN everyday, every night??? Another thing that i don't understand Indian. Cars, taxis, buses or a even bicycles were trying to hit a horn as if they were in a horn contest! If they were in Thailand, someone might get out of a car to shoot another one (it was happened before many years ago, two cars in the gas station. First car finished but don't move, then second car hit a horn to make him move. Dunno because of the hot weather that made people nervous or that guy was so crazy but then, he (the first car) got out of the car and shot the second car's driver!! DIED!! Aweful!!).
But in Calcutta, they are not. Ok they hit the horn to people, to other cars to move but no one gets angry with that as if it's a sound of heaven. But i don't like... that, upset everytime i heard, lucky that i had no gun .. haha joking. But before i'm going to be more nervouse .. i told Ale, let's move to somewhere ... we are here too long. Ale agreed immediately as if it was on his mind at the sme time. Ok, Go go go! But to where?? ... Ahhh, the best one for now should be Varanasi to see Ganga! He said ... ok, let's go today!! Today???? Really??? He said ... yes, now! let's go to check the train! ...A man from the hotel took us to one travel agent, they said 'sleeping seat - is 500 rupis per each' ... we nodded and told him we'll come back later.
But actually we took a taxi to the train station, we're sure that would be more cheap! At the train station, we take almost a half an hour to find a place to buy tickets to Varanasi. First guy told us to the right, second told us to the left. But actually it's on the second floor!!! India, indiaaaa!!!Inside had less air, can't believe that's a place to buy ticket. Many people inside with no air. We went to look at the timetable which was hanging on the wall. Another 30 minutes we wasted time. Small alphabets and don't understand anything. Wondered how they could find the right train!??? So we were in the line to talk to the officer. .. Got it, she said .. tonight only a seat ticket not sleeping ticket. How much?, we asked. 930 rupis, each. What!!!!!! She said ... if you wanna leave tonight, that's the best price for now! Ahhhhh, we were discussing, asking her many questions and forgetting that they had other people on the line, then they yelled at us! Ahhh, sorry sorry.
They're in a hurry. We didn't buy there ... but back to take the ticket at the first agent. We took a taxi back with a hopeless to leave here tonight. Then we found another travel agent. He said same - tonight is fulled. Tomorrow is ok, we're ok too. How much??? 380 rupis each with sleeping cabin. ... Hah??? 380???? ok, we take it, two!!!! :D
The more we asked, the more it's cheap! Ok, time to get out of here.
Spent last night in Calcutta at the favorite restaurant opposite the hotel. Yummi Indian Food here. Then walked to another street which is like a rich area. Nice shops, nice hotels, nice restaurants. Again that i've been in the feeling of different classes in India. I know they had four classes. Some who are rich have cars and some have a car driver to drove them to shopping or work.
Some who are poor sleep on the street, no house. ... Next to the rich street is the new market, we walked there and lost ... We were in a way which like a circle, labyrinth. They looked at us strange, i was scared first time here. Tried to find the way back but we were at the same point again. Then one crazy women spoke loud, came to Ale and spitted on his face! What da heck! .... She's crazy so we did nothing ... just walked away. .. Finally we found the way back ... it's like we came out from the cave! After 9 o'clock in the evening, most of the shops are closed. We went back to the hotel. Packing stuff, preparing to go to Varanasi. Hope beautiful thing's waiting for us over there.
Bye bye Calcutta, for now .
.. you are more crazy than us indeed!! Haaah.
