Sunday, September 9, 2007 ((Day 11))
1st on the itinerary for Day 3 was Neumarkt and Waterloo. We came across a little flea market type set up in Neumarkt, there for awhile of course we shoppers love to buy. Then through no actual intention we found ourselves wandering through Chinatown and then came the alleyway leading to the Red Light District. We had not planned to check out the Red Light District till either later that night or another day but since we were there we took a look around. Super smelly of course, there's this statue in the street that is semi-private that men pee on.. interesting but yeah.. yikes.. not cool. We walked around and around.. saw many women on display.. no men.. so we didn't understand. I guess they have a different approach.
Here comes the biking portion of the program. We went to MAC Bike Rentals.. another cutie baby siting =) wow so cute. The bike was quite the correct size for me, I wish there were big kid bikes I could've rented but o well.. there were only the big red bikes that they rented to everyone else. That's where I am going to blame my 2 falls from the bike on.. the monsterous sized bike that I rented. Ok, yeah yeah it wasn't that big, but at times I found it hard to touch back down on the ground, hence the 2 falls. My first fall came after viewing, standing, and snapping pictures on and around the Magere Brug (bridge) - skinniest bridge in Amsterdam, I attempted to get back on the bike and peddle and I just fell sideways.
We had a late lunch and discussed our bike adventure =) .. it really was a great bike adventure, minus the 2 falls. The whole adventure I did partially feel like a local.. practically everyone else was on a bike, so I felt like everyone else.
After lunch we made our way over to our Canal Cruise, Lovers Showboat (Rondvaarten). It was so nice to see the city riding the canals. It enabled us to truly appreciate the waters run along and through Amsterdam. After the cruise we went to Amsterdam Train Station to buy our tickets to Delft.. which is where we will be going tomorrow.
