During the ICUU Council Meeting held on Nov. 2007 at Oberwesel, I got to go around the place and enjoy the full grandeur of autumn...

Autumn in my heart

View of the valley from the castle
Coming from the country which knows only two seasons -- wet and dry -- I've never experienced the magic called autumn. During the initial planning for my trip in Germany, I was disappointed by the fact that the Council Meeting I'm attending is scheduled from the last week of October to the first week of November. Visions of cold miserable afternoons and freezing  nights  would come to mind and  I was not at all excited about my trip.

But as it happens, autumn in Oberwesel is a special period. The Rhine, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its sweeping landscape and home to old castles and cathedrals is a sight to see in autumn. The rolling hills appears to be blanketed in fire and gold. No wonder it has been a source of inspiration for Romantic german literature. An area seeped in nature's beauty is sure brings out passion and inspiration to anyone lucky enough to experience it.
