Me and Novi (TB member) decided to go to Cambodia as a cheap charlie traveller and we didn't guess that we had a lot of fun there!

Angkor Wat trip

What made our trip can win an award of cheap-charlie trip:

-         We booked a lodge from Internet called “Jasmine Lodge” (we were confused why the address was not clear, only numbers, no street name • and when we arrived there, just realized that every street were numbered not named. I like this system!). Siem Reap town consist only 1 main street which connects the airport to the town center, with lots of hotels, resorts, villa, lodge, motels, beside the street..you name it.

-         The lodge turned out to be not so bad (~6USD for 2 person/2 nights) c/w airport pick ups and bathroom inside. The pick up was using tuk tuk (a motorbike with connected cart at the back to accommodate more passengers). No air condition, but didn’t really need AC in Siem Reap, the weather was quite chilly.

-         The entrance fee for the temple site is 20USD/day for 1 person and getting cheaper for each day if we purchase longer package.

. but hello.. we’re here not to learn about the old pile of rocksJ.. so 1 day is enough.

-         We took a tour package • again with the tuk • tuk, left the lodge at 5 in the morning, eyes has not opened yet. Prepared to catch the sun rise at the first temple and it was worthy!. When we arrived all was dark and we had to walk with a flash light, find some spots to sit in front of a lotus pond facing the horizon. Then the sun came out slowly and it was awesome. The rays sparkled when it hit the water and it came up from behind the temple tower, so fascinating. That time we realized there are a lot of other people surrounded us (whom we couldn’t see when it was still darkJ ).

-         The tuk tuk took us to each big temple and drop us until we’re tired and then he took us to another temple.

-         Angkor was actually an ancient town built in Kambuja’s kingdom era around AD900. It has undergone many events; war between kingdoms, Spaniard came, rouge khmer. It got destroyed, restored, shot as back ground for movie “Lara Croft” and still struck the attention from lots of tourist including us.

-         Just one important question to whoever build the temple: you had wide land.. why did you have to build the stair so step? We actually have to go to the very edge of the temple to see if it has stair to go down.

-         I could never climb and see the top of the temple due to my acro-phobia.

-         Cambodian there can speak Engligh, a very good pronunciation.

-         We gave up when the tuk tuk driver took us to the last temple…”ok, stop there and just skip it”

-         J
