I never know what is petrified wood until a friend of mine from Holland mentioned how this thing is a hot item within the art collector in Europe nowadays. So i started to look around of where it is actually come from. Of course there is always art product in Bali but everything there is always come from somewhere else. So i did my research and the nearby source is actually Bogor, 70km from Jakarta.
In case you don't know what the heck petrified wood is. It is a fosilized tree which because of the age has turn to stone-like product. They are very expensive when it comes to certain colour (red and black), but beside that they also heavy and the price usually set per kilos. If you end up of being in love with the huge piece, it then surely will cost you thousand of dollars.
In Bogor, there are places which sell this as a gallery but there are also many manufacturer who accept a direct sales with anyone comning over to their place. When i visited one of the manufacturer, there was actually a professor geologist from USA who doing research on the wood. He promised me to share the result of his research simply because he thinks i am so curious about the wood.
