Back to Queenstown and on to Wanaka
Our intention was to continue to Wanaka, but as we came closer, Queenstown drew us in yet again, where we had unfinished business. We set about planning our action packed afternoon, but started off with a big buffet lunch at the top of the Skyline Gondola with beautiful views over the lake. After lunch we had a couple of rides down the luge. Great fun!
As soon as we got down the mountain, we got on the shuttle bus to the Shotover Canyon for 'The Worlds Most Exciting Jet Boat Ride' (funny that everything in Oz and NZ is the worlds best!). Kelty, the driver, took us on an exhilarating trip dangerously close to the canyon walls and gravel banks doing plenty of 360 spins along the way.
As we really like Queenstown, we decided to stay another day and spent most of it chilling out by the lake and also had a game of mini golf. Haven't done that for years.
Late afternoon, we continued on to Wanaka. The next day, after a long walk along the shore of the lake, we had a little look around town and also tried to find our friends Adam & Kerry's plot of land that they have recently bought. Unfortunately with no success. We had planned to hang around for the day, but as the weather wasn't great, we set off towards Kaikoura early afternoon. We stopped at Lake Tekapo on the way and camped in Geraldine for the night.
