We arrived in Shanghai around 7:30am and took the metro to find a hotel. We wrote down a hostel we found online that we wanted to find so we went to look for it, but after walking around in the pouring rain in Shanghai for a long time, we gave up on trying to find it. I was getting cranky from the rain and aimlessly walking around so we just went to the first hotel we finally found, it was 280 Yuan (around $35). We rested for a bit and then went to find a internet place and spent a couple hours there writing our last updates and researching where to go next. We wanted to find a cheap flight from here to either vietnam or bangkok but were unsuccesful in finding anything good. So we left the internet place, checked with a travel agent and didnt find any good fares that way either.
After all that, we walked down to the Yu Yuan garden which was a nice little garden next to a shopping bazzar. It was ok. Steve's been getting annoyed a bit at all the harrassment every time in a shopping area where people bother you to buy there touristy items or knock-off watches, etc. Then we walked down near the river back towards Nanjing rd. (a famous shopping strip in shanghai). Along the way we stopped to look at "the bund" which is the landscape you always see when you see pictures of Shanghai. It features the pearl tv tower which is a tall decorative thing that makes a pretty city landscape. Then we walked down Nanjing rd. towards our hotel and rested a while.
We then walked around to look for a restaurant to eat dinner at. The menu had some pictures so we pointed at a picture to order and got a chicken dish and a noodly dish. After dinner we walked back to the bund to see it at night and walked back around towards our hotel.
