Yay! On vacation! Just arrived in Buffalo!

So we arrived in Buffalo about lunchtime. Scott was more excited than he let on, I think, to be in the "homeland"! He was really funny...still trying to be cool and non-touristy, but he was excited. He was born there, but had not been back since they moved to California when he was 5 or 6. He claims New Yorker status still...that's where he learned to talk, so thats why he has the accent he has...learned to ice skate before he could walk...etc. Hmmm....

Anyway, we got our rental car and decided to go right for lunch at the Anchor Bar...none other than the birthplace of chicken wings. The Anchor is close to downtown and has a hometown, eclectic feel. See my accompanying review for the details. The wings and pizza were really good, but Scott and I agreed that Sue's wings are better! :) She did, after all, learn to make buffalo wings while they lived in Buffalo!

After stuffing ourselves silly with greasy food, we set out to find Scott's old houses and other haunts from his childhood.

I think he actually make the comment that it is fitting that we are eating at the birthplace of wings in his birthplace...
This took us to the Amhearst area, which I really liked. The Leveille's lived in 2 houses while in Buffalo, but only one has Scott's memories attached. We found both neighborhoods, and stopped to take pictures. He was excited to see the little neighborhood where he played, rode his bike, etc. Both neighboodhoods has little tree-lined streets and sidewalks. Very cute! We also found the Christian school that Scott and Heather attended and the Leveille's were a part of: Central Christian Acadamy. It is still thriving, and had expanded a good bit.

We also promptly found the Starbucks and drove around cute little Amhearst before setting off to Canada.
