After an uneventful flight I arrived to what I came for..some heat! Although with that I paid the price with some rather sticky humidity as an added bonus.

Darwin isn't as large as Perth [and I found that pretty small] but has a totally different feel to it, it has much more of an Asian influence, which is hardly suprising given its proximity in relation to Asia as oppose to Canberra, and certaintly feels like a young city. Its a place where people come to chill, party or join a tour [I on the other hand have come for all three] and everyday is a party..my kind of place.

Hostel is new and pretty good [Mellaleauca's on Mitchell street for anyone coming this way] with a pool, bar and all other mod cons. After waiting out my first brief tropical storm I managed to venture out to to the obligatory wander around town...not much of note on the historical architectural side although some of the new stuff shows promise. After that jaunt the heat and travel had taken it out of me so I decided I'd peaked and headed to the pool for some R&R...

Little did I know my chill time would be impacted on by the Australian Royal Merchant Navy boys who were in town and ready to party [200 boys and girls to be precise, thankfully all were not at my hostel]; dinner and drinks ensued follwed by many Bundy's and coke's and some wild dancing. I did however manage to tear myself away and get to bed before 2am as I knew the 5.30am start was going to kill me otherwise..onwards and upwards to Kakadu national park tomorrow for my 3-day tour! More partying with the Navy was arranged for Monday...oh brother.......
