I wasn't too sure about Santorini and even though every guidebook says it good and most travellers did too I just didn't enjoy it. We were up early to catch the 3 hour train back to Athens which would have benn great on the way here but anyway. I was stuck in the compartment with Jill whle Charlene was in another one. We had some very strange travlleling companions. There was a Greek couple who were all over each other, a guy who spoke english and laughed when we complained about the Greek couple and an old Greek woman who halfway through starting lecturing the couple which was fun.
Any way we hung around Pireaus for a couple of hours then hopped on the overnight ferry to Fira on Santorini.
Next morning/afternoon we all woke up at 12 completely exhausted from very little sleep since we got to Greece. We headed out on the boat tour which was very interesting. We stopped on a volcanic islet which was cool to walk around and see. We then found the english leaflet explaining everything at the end. They then took us to "hot springs". After swimming 50m we came to this bit of water that wasn't even room temp. And I'm not that great a swimmer so it was fun. So we got back to the main islad and decided there was no way in hell me and Charlene were walking up all the steps. So we decided mules were the way to go. Only they wouldn't go. Finally they started moving and they were actually quite fast. We even beat Jill to the top and she had ike a 5 minute head start seeing as they wouldn't move at first.
The next day we decided to head to a nearby black beach. This was of course about an hours walk away. Oh well it was a very nice beach and we did find bits of pumice for our poor, abused feet so that was a bonus. We just spent the rest of the day wandering around Fira and playing in the pool.
The next day we spent wandering around until we got the ferry to Iraklio, Crete
