Roma, Ti Amo!

We arrived on a very hot april day in Rome, tired and most definitely sleepy, after spending a brutal sleepless night in Marseilles airport the night before. The airport in Rome was packed and it took us forever to find our way to the small ticket booth for our coach that will take us to the city center. We finally got on the coach, felt dizzy on the first five minutes inside the hot bus and felt completely sick 30 minutes after. Wasn't there any airconditioning or something? Or even just an air freshener!
The coach took us to Termini, the central station of Rome, and just a few blocks from it is our humble hostel. We took a shower, charged our camera and ate pasta in a small restaurant then off we went to our Roman tour.
The first stop of our double-deck tourist bus was the Colosseo and we definitely had to get off to get a close look at it. Oh I always love the feeling of seeing something famous in person! It was actually bigger than I thought it would be. I wanted to go inside the Colosseo but I know we didn't have much time so I am saving that experience for my next time in Rome.
We didn't need to get on the bus again and go to other sites because most of them were already there just near the Colosseo. So we walked around and took pictures like crazy. There were the Arco di Constantino, Arco di Tito, Domus Aurea, Palatino Colona Traiana, Mercati Traianei, and many many others. (No, I havent really memoized them all as I am actually just looking at my Rome Tourist Map right now to check what those sites were.
After walking some more and seeing (*looks at the map again*) Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II, we walked some more to my favorite place in Rome, Fontana di Trevi or The Trevi Fountain in English. Oh it was soooo beautiful!!! I love love it! And it was so nice to just sit in front of a fabulous piece of art while relaxing from a hot and sunny afternoon. I then threw some coins (something I wouldnt do unless it was THE Trevi Fountain) into the fountain and said some wishes =).
After that we had some really delicious gelato (seriously delicious italian ice cream) and then walked our way to the Pantheon. I cant believe it's still standing. It was really beautiful. After staying for a couple of minutes and took some pictures we walked more until we found our tour bus stop. We got on and headed our way to the Vatican City.
After the Vatican City, we hopped on the bus again and went back to our hostel. We were seriously sleepy. We slept in the tour bus on our way back (I wake up every 3 seconds and then sleep again). But I actually only slept fo one hour in our hostel and then I decided to go outside on my own. Walked a bit around the station and bought some stuff in a store. And then went back to the hostel and had dinner outside. We left Rome the next day and I still had to catch my flight from Hamburg to Manila the same day.
Anyway, I love Rome. It's very touristy of course, but there are still so many things to discover there. I would love to go back because I have definitely missed a lot of sights. Roma for the second time wouldn't be bad at all! =)
