Ok, so when Bridget and I were forced to leave New Orleans, we lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 5 months until we could move back. During this time we were lucky to meet two people who would become two of our very best friends, Sean and Shalini. We live far apart but we have a tradition of meeting somewhere for St. Patrick's Day. This year we went to San Francisco...

San Francisco

So, the city is just so nice!  It’s perfect.  It literally is a city on a hill, or at least one that has grown UP a hill!  Cable cars, Golden Gate Park, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz.  One thing is for sure.  When you’re in San Francisco, you are going to be doing a LOT of walking.  No really, you’re going to walk you butt off!!

Muir Woods National Monument

So the city is beautiful but the hills can be a challenge.  Members of Sean's family live in the Bay area and his parents flew down so we were really given the local's perspective.  It was an incredible trip.  We went to Muir Woods National Monument and saw the redwoods.  They were incredible.  It was very quiet too.  The ground was soft with tree needles the trees blotted out the sun.  it was very cool inside the forest.

The Parade

Ok, San Francisco is great but man, their parades are terrible.  Ok, maybe they all aren't terrible, I only saw one, and maybe I'm prejudiced since I live in New Orleans and our Mardi Gras is unlike anything in the world.  Even so, I don't think San Francisco gets it, it was just the local plumbers #578 or whatever.  No throws, no costumes, no block partys...it just didn't seem to have the party energy that comes with parades down here.  That being said, we weren't there to celebrate the many different local unions, we were there to reconnect and drink butt loads of Guiness and Jameson and get drunk...Mission accomplished sir!  In grand fashion I may say.
