My first concert in NL: playing for the new mayor of Utrecht, live on TV

When I left NL to go to New York I knew I was giving up my place in the Orkest van Utrecht (Orchestra of Utrecht), the community orchestra I had played in for so many years. So, I was very excited when my bassoon colleague Sana called me and asked if I wanted to sub for a project. My successor went out on a ski vacation, leaving a vacancy to be filled.
I gladly accepted. The concert was a very special one. The orchestra would be playing the music for a movie "The Snowman" based on the book with the same title by Raymond Briggs, composed by Howard Blake. The 1983 Oscar nominee for best Animated Movie pictures an idyllic story about a little boy who finds the snowman that he built come to life.
The orchestra had played the movie concert last year a few times in a local theatre for kids, but tonight we would play it for real in the large City Theatre of Utrecht, for an audience of about 1000 people, all employees of the Utrecht Municipality.
The concert was also live broadcasted by the Utrecht City TV. A recording can be found here. Fast Forward to minute 53 to see the performance of the orchestra. Your reporter can be seen playing at e.g. time stamp 60minutes and 50 seconds.
It was a very nice performance and so nostalgic to play once again in "my" old orchestra.
Now I'll have to find an orchestra that has a bassoon vacancy.
