The day was not over yet. So I decided to briefly visit the National Mall in DC and thus walk by some of the icons of DC. Being:
-The Lincoln Memorial: Which offered an unusual view. The Reflecting Pool, the stretched narrow pond in front of the memorial was empty and filled with mud. One was restoring the whole pool. A unique view!
-The Tidal Basin: The beautiful little lake that offers nice views on the Washington Monument.
-The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial: Where I got caught in a very strong storm accompanied by a horrible rainstorm. I found shelter together with 3 other people and a huge dog in the public toilets of the memorial. After the storm, that lasted about 30 minutes I got the huge memorial all for myself. That was very special. I almost started talking to the statues of FDR and his wife Eleanor.
-The Jefferson memorial: which started to fill up again after the storm. The surroundings of it were heavily hit, several huge trees had been blown down.
-The Washington Monument: which had an amazing cloud pattern over it. See pictures attached!
-The US Capitol: Which could hardly be approached because everything was closed down because of activities that would take place tomorrow (4th of July).
-The White House: where one of the windows offered a vague view on the inside.
