Hawaii 2012 - Day 6: Arrival in Maui - another ghost hotel?

The great thing of domestic flights and flying with small planes is that there is hardly any waiting after arrival. Hop out of the plane, walk to the baggage claim, grab your suitcase and off you go. And that is exactly what our Maui arrival looked like. Alamo Rent-a-car was better staffed on Maui because it had economy cars in stock. So, this time no single or double upgrade, we were assigned a tiny Mazda 2. For a change I was driving a rental car that is actually smaller than my own Mazda 3. Yet, I was much happier with this to-the-point car, compared to the bulky upgrades we usually get. And the fuel consumption was also remarkably lower.
We arrived at sunset at the beautiful Aston Maui Lu hotel, another Hawaiian hotel resort that is built in a former coconut grove! Just like the former Coco Palms Resort we saw earlier today on Kaua'i (see previous blog).
We unpacked, drove to a take out Thai which we knew from our previous stay, and had a great dinner our room's terrace in the huge coconut grove. Relaxing Maui!
