Finding a place to live

As stated earlier I am technically "homeless". Of course, I could have rented a place before I arrived back, but what is the point? It would mean staying in an empty house, eating from disposables, and sleeping on the concrete floor. I had to wait until my belongings, packed in a container, had arrived in The Netherlands.
That is not as easy as it might seem. The container with my belongings was only allowed to leave the US after the Dutch customs issued a move permit. I had been working on that with my relocator the past months. A lot of forms had to be filled out and statements had to be obtained. I thought moving to the US was complicated. Unfortunately the European authorities like forms and formalities too.
My idea was to first rent a house, and then take the time to find a house to buy. Initially I wanted to rent in Amsterdam in order to keep the commute manageable.
Today I just drove by some locations listed on the realtor websites. The weather was horrible again. One said that is the perfect weather for home scouting. I actually saw some nice places. One of them even had a Subway restaurant and a New York Pizza......
