Nice trails!

The weather forecast said the temperatures are going to rise after tomorrow. With that in mind I planned another X-country skiing outing to the Catskill Mountains. My previous session in Frost Valley did not work out that well with only flat trails and no real tracks, so I did some more research and found another X-country site in the Catskills, Mountain Trails Cross Country Ski Center in Tannersville. Their website gave me a pretty professional impression: core business, ski rental, trails groomed on former logging trails, 35 kilometers of trails.

Yesterday it took me almost an hour to find a parking spot on Manhattan because I did not want to spoil time today with getting the car driving back to my apartment, getting the skis and back again.

The search misery paid off and I could make an early start and arrived at around 10:30 am at the ski site. And yes, this felt good. It looked more or less like the Garnet Hill Ski Site in the Adirondacks, I visited exactly one year ago the trails looked well groomed and had very well shaped tracks. After paying my 17 dollar trail fee I hit the trails. And yes these trails were fun. Some of them were flat but others had a significant grading.

After some skiing on the "easy" and "more difficult" trails I headed for the black "Experts Only" trail. I would certainly not call myself an expert but even this trail was very easily to manage. I suppose the X-country trails in Norway are just a bit more challenging. But, I had a great day.
