finally I met Minh - "ojitos chinitos!!!!"

Chino (Chinesse) + Gringo = Chingo!!!

Through a common friend - a TB who lives in Austin - I met Minh. Huy, my friend, sent me a message telling me about a friend of his who will be in Lima soon. Well, first of all I have to say that Minh wasn’t a TB when I met him, but after a couple of hours of hanging out with this addict to TB, he became one of us, yeah!!!! Mission accomplished, hehe :)

At the beginning I wasn’t sure if I would be in town, but I did it! He invited me to join him and his friend, Gipy, the night before, but I was tired and couldn’t do it. I missed all the fun they had :(

Well, a new day a new meeting with a new friend.

Gipy, Minh & Yadi: new friends!!!!
Minh sent me a message with his local number and I gave him a call. We agreed to meet for lunch. I went to the place he was renting in the city and I have to say it’s a really cool place. It’s a small apartment, enough for 1 person, all furnished, very well located and cheaper than a hotel!!!! I think he will write a review about the place. Anyway a couple of minutes later Gipy arrived. She’s from Lima and met Minh while she was studying in Austin. She plays volleyball and is really kind. Ok, what to have in Lima? It was sunny after a cloudy week. Minh was teasing us saying he brought the sun, haha. I suggested my favorite place for Fish and Seafood, not only because it’s tasty, but also because Minh would be able to say Huy he went to the place Huy loved so much, haha.

The service was very good and faster than ever!!! We shared some appetizers – really good ones – and since it was early we didn’t drink any alcohol.

having a delicious lunch!
Well, not at that moment, hehe. We were getting full, but couldn’t help having dessert. That was a plate with samples of 4 of our most typical desserts. It was delicious and just the right quantity. During the whole lunch we were chatting and laughing a lot. Minh is full of fun/strange/unique stories. He was always saying, these things happened to a close friend, mmm. Maybe they happened to him, haha. Just kidding. There is no way you could get bored with him. So much fun!!!! He was telling us about his adventures here in Peru and in other places. And I was telling them about TB and how useful and cool it is. Trying to get more people into it, hehe. After a delicious meal and great time with new friends, I should leave them. I had to perform by babysitting role, haha. My colleague was in Lima and I would take care of him until it was time to go to the airport.
at Mangos: Yadi, Gipy & Minh!
But this is a different story ;) Minh and Gipy would hang out a bit longer and the 3 of us would meet in the evening.

It was around 7:30pm when I met Gipy and Minh again. We met in Larcomar and went to the Mangos to have something to eat while he was telling me about his adventures that day earlier in Lima - I'm sure he'd write about them. After that we were going to a Peruvian show with typical dances. They would give us a pisco sour, so Gipy and I decided not to have one yet. In the other hand Minh ordered a double. It was huge!!! Look like a glass of lemonade, haha. And we didn’t have much time before going to the show, so it was like a super shot!!!! And he survived!!!!

The show was performed in a restaurant in the same mall, so we just had to walk a bit.

in the middle of the action!
Our table was waiting for us. A Brazilian friend from Gipy and his girlfriend would join us. Since the show is more for tourists, they provide the tables with flags and our table was the most colorful with the American, Brazilian and Peruvian flag. It was so nice watching the dances and how much Minh enjoyed them. While they were dancing “afro”, which is a dance from the South Coast, the dancers were looking for people to join them. One of the guys looked our table, mmm. Usually they pick up tourists. Gipy is tall and blond. She doesn’t look like a typical Peruvian, so the dancer came straight to her. But he didn’t know that she can dance very well, hehe. Go Gipy!!!!!

Later they performed a dance from highlands and were looking for some people to dance with them.

at Tayta, of course a MUST
One of the dancers went to the table next to ours, but the girls were to shy and Minh and Gipy started to point me, haha. Well, I don’t need to say I ended dancing, haha. So much fun, haha. We had a blast at that place. It was my first time there and definitely is a really good choice! I’m writing a review about this.

Gipy and Minh would go to a party later. I couldn’t join them there, but we could go to have some drinks. Where to go??? Well, to my place – Tayta!!!! Hahaha. Minh was telling me next time I’m going to Austin I definitely have to contact him, which I would do, that’s for sure! He knows THE places and THE people, haha.  The atmosphere was great with music and cozy. We had a couple of beers, were chilling out for a while and it was time to leave. Minh would stay in town until Thursday, so I guess this is just the 1st entry with him, hehe.

Typical Peruvian dances with a buffete in Larcomar
As many other places, this restaurant offers the possibility of mixing the Peruvian Cousine with a Peruvian show of dances.

I visited it for first time with Minh and enjoyed the place. Although I have to be honest and said, I attended to better shows. For example, the greatest one is in Downtown, which makes it not so easy to access, besides you have to buy the tickets with 1 week in advance the latest. But this restaurant is very well located, in a really nice mall, very easy and safe to access, besides it's not so hard to find place.

Other important thing is the fact that the stage is not at same level as the tables, so everyone can enjoy the show. Also, they have flat screens where you can watch the details. The show lasts 2 hours and during the show you will listen music and see dances from coast and highlands. At same time you can taste a Peruvian Buffet. I didn't have it the first time and the second time we ordered from the menu. Anyway, the dishes were tasty, so I guess the buffet is tasty too, hehe, although is expensive. Even though you get a free drink, ask for Pisco Sour, with the cover (S/.50.-!), which was good!

The place is full with tourists, who enjoy the performance of the typical dances and are invited to dance with them. I was invited and danced too :)

The staff is friendly and take care of every detail. They will approach to you and ask where you come from, so your table will get a flag from the country you are from.

The atmosphere is very nice too, plus it has a wonderful view! The furniture is new and has a good style. It's elegant, but also comfortable. The stage is in the center and the tables are surrounding it. Also, they are 3 stations of food, so there wouldn't be long lines. They also have a bar and a small lounge, so you can wait there until you go to your sits.

But the night doesn't end after the show. A singer will perform typical dances. The show is on from Thursday - Saturday. Better call and make a reservation to get a good spot! Oh! and it can be a bit expensive compared to others.
