Two Mini Meet Ups in Lima at same day!!!!! - part 2: Nelly, Jim & Yadi :)
well, the night was just starting
and we were full of energies! While we Jim and I were at my house with Gunther.
I called Nelly and let her know we were in our way out. So we would meet at the
entrance of the "Peña
We did the line, but there was no free space. We should have booked in advance.
So, what to do now? Just wait and see if something happens? No way! Let's go to
another Peña.
Oh! I have to explain what a Peña is. Mmm, it's not a club, not a
bar, mmm, there you listen to peruvian music performed alive! you see dances
and the host of the place tease the people haha. So much fun! And of course you
can sing and dance, while you take a couple of drinks. Well, I'll write a full
review later. Anyway, we went to another Peña and...
First of all, finding a table. The place was packed, but we found a table. It
was a big one and the waitress wanted us to move, unless we agreed to share the
table with other people later. Ok, no problem. So, first of all, we are in
Peruvian enviroment, so time to order some drinks with Pisco! Haha. Jim had the
Pisco sour before and he confessed me, he didn't like it much. But there were
many options. The show started, there were some dances and songs.
The party
started. The 3 of us were having a great time, singing, clapping and toasting
with our piscos!
Suddenly, the waitress came with 3 people. They would share the table with us.
They were 3 women: a young lady - Hannah - her grandmother who had birthday
(but she was young) and a friend of the grandmother. I guess I can make Hannah
join TB, haha. The 3 girls were really nice. We couldn't have asked for better
neighbors ;)
Ok, we were already in the mood and it was time to dance! At first Jim didn't
want to, but Nelly and I convinced him to join us, haha. It was so much fun.
There were a lot of people - locals and tourists - dancing and singing and
clapping :) We danced for a while, went back to our table to recharge energies
= drinking our piscos and were ready to go back to the dance floor.
But Jim
didn't want to join us this time. Ok, Nelly and I went by ourselves and
suddenly I noticed Jim was coming with his camera. He was recording
everything!!! Oh, I have to watch that video!!! That might be too much fun!!!
Back in our table, we were chatting and singing with our neighbors, they are
part of Jim's video too, haha. We were talking about going to another place,
but this was so nice, that we decided to stay there. Unfortunately I should
leave them early. It was 3:30am and I went back home. Nelly and Jim stayed
longer. I'm sure they kept on having a blast!
Well, there is just one thing I'd like to show Jim: my favorite cozy bar, haha.
So maybe after classes we will go there during the week haha.
Thank you guys!! I had a great time!!!

Rompe y Raja is situated in the heart of the Barranco district, which is the bohemian one. They are open from Thursday – Saturday at night. You have to pay a cover to wash the show and your consumption is not included in the fee. Regarding the show I would say you can enjoy here “Musica Criolla” (Creole music), mostly from the coast. The performances include songs and dances and involve locally known artists. This place is specialized in the Afro Music and Vals. The Afro music and dances are really fun. It can be difficult to dance. It’s not easy, but you would have a blast trying to do it, hehe. There is a host who is in charge of introducing the artists. He will invite you to dance and take part of the show too, haha.
Here you can also taste Peruvian dishes and drinks.
The show usually lasts 2-3 hours, but it doesn’t mean that after that the party is over. When the show ends, the band will play music just to dance, like salsa, merengue, cumbia and other latin rythms. So, wear confy shoes and be ready to dance.
The club is spacious (capacity for 400 people) and includes a good sound system. It's the perfect place to party with a group of friends. One advice, try to buy your entrances in advance if you want to get a table with a good view of the dance floor and arrive early, so you won't miss the show :)
