first lunch in Peru!
I wasn't kidding when I was saying July was a busy day for the TB's hehe. I just arrived yesterday and I couldn't stop meeting TB's hehe. But now complains at all, I love it!!!!
Today I was working during the morning and made everything
as fast as possible, so I’d be able to meet Michael for lunch. It would be his
first lunch in Peru
and I wanted to guide him in this experience, hehe. While I was working he was
doing some sightseeing in Miraflores. He visited the Huaca and I picked up him
from there. Ok, where to go? I asked him
if he would like to try our famous fish and seafood and he was happy with the
idea. So I drove to a restaurant which has a great view of the sea.
at perfect time. There was a parking spot waiting for us and we got a table
with a wonderful view!
first pic with my new friend: Cheburashka :)
I ordered a platter with different dishes, so he’d able to
try different things. He had water and I ordered: Inca Kola, haha. We were just
chatting, when he opened his back pack. Mmm, what’s he taking out? Well, the
correct question was: “Who is coming?” It was Cheburashka!!! He’s the official
mascot of the Russian Olimpic team, haha. He looks a bit like Gizmo – from the
Greemlings, so I called him the Russian Cousin of Gizmo, haha. Michael brought
this little buddy from Moscow,
so he’d be part of his 1st South American Adventure :)
Besides the platter I ordered something called: “Leche de
Tigre” (Tiger Milk).
This is not an alcoholic beverage. You know the Cebiche is
made with fish marinated in lime juice, well this drink is the juice of the
cebiche. So it’s sour! I asked Michael if he would like to try it, and he did
it! I didn’t think he liked that very much, but he’s like me, he has to try the
local food wherever he goes. Great!!! We started talking about Miachel’s new
adventures and how is living in Moscow.
He speaks Russian now, which is so complicated, wow, my respects! We both were
talking about our traveling experiences and sharing some info from different
places we had been. We were having lunch, when the girl sat in the table next
to us asked me if she would be able to make me a couple of questions. Of
course! She was with a friend and both were tourists. They were wondering what
bright yellow drink I was having, haha. Also they had some questions about the
food. They didn’t know who ask about it and were so happy when they listened to
Michael and I talking in English, haha.
good boy, drinking Inca Kola :)
the photographer in action ;)
After a delicious meal, we decided to take a walk around
the parks in front of the sea in Miraflores, including the Love Park
of course. Michael told me, Cinthia (another TB from Lima) told him, she’d meet him at his hotel
in a couple of hours. So we had time to walk and enjoy the nice view. I was
telling him about Lima and Miraflores and he was
telling me about Moscow and his life in Russia. It was
nice hanging out with him and teaching him a bit of the Peruvian culture. He
has Central American roots, so he wasn’t unfamiliar with our Culture, but it
was his 1st time in South America.
with my Russian souvenirs, thanks!!! Take a look at my necklace!
Ok, it was time to drive back to the hostel to meet
Cinthia. Cinthia would take care of him, while I’d go back to work and we’d
meet later that day. They both went to downtown and I met Michael at his hostel
around 6 pm. This time I wasn’t driving, going for a couple of drinks was in my
plans, haha. But it was still early to go for drinks and I was waiting for news
from another TB from Scotland
too. We weren’t hungry, but Michael was in the mood for a sweet snack, haha. Ok,
let’s get some Peruvian desserts/candies and go for a cup of coffee. By the
way, same as I, Michael loves coffee – well maybe more than I do, hehe. We had to wait for some people and in the
meanwhile we had our coffee and Michael tried the desserts.
I don’t need to say
he liked them, hehe. We got some desserts typical from the North. I wanted him
to try them, since he wouldn’t be able to visit the north of the country this
time – notice I said: this time, haha. And I got presents too: vodka + a jewel!
Thank you so much!!!!!
first Pisco Sour!!! Cheers!
Calum, the Scottish guy, finally said to us that he wouldn’t
be able to join us, mmm. Cinthia was in her way and Jim was also coming,
yeah!!! Michael and I finished our coffees and since we would have a couple of
beers with Jim later, it’d be a good idea. So, time to go to another of my
favorite spots: Mango’s in Larcomar. We arrived there just on time for the
Happy Hour, haha. It was Michael’s 2nd day in Lima and he hasn’t tried the pisco yet, mmm. I’d
fix that haha.
We asked for our Pisco Sours and a platter of appetizers. Before
the drinks and food came Cinthia arrived, yeah!!!! Cheburashka showed up too,
haha. We were chatting and having our drinks. No need to say, Michael liked the
pisco sour, hehe. I was explaining him about the city, customes, food, etc and
he was taking notes of it, how cute! I realized I’m not the only one who does
it, hehe. Definitely, he’s one of mine ;)
Bad Cheburashka, you are a little boy. What are you doing in a bar???
We got a call from Jim, telling he was in his way. He would
meet us at the boulevard. I usually don’t go to the “Calle de las Pizzas”, but
since my favorite bar was closed and we needed beer and music… there we go! Jim
wasn’t alone. A German guy from Couchsurfing was with him and his name was also
Mike, haha. Jim told him I speak German, so I spoke a bit in German, haha. He didn’t
expect me speaking in German.
Surprise! We went into a place where there was a
band getting ready to play some salsa and merengue. We asked for a pitcher of
beer. It was supposed to be for everybody, but Michael saw it and thought it
was for 1 person, haha. Of course we ordered more, haha. Cinthia had to leave, too
bad she left so early, but it was a Wednesday, mmm. I had to leave too, but I
said: “just 5 more minutes, haha”
He finished his beer, haha
The band started to play and Michael asked me to go
dancing. Ok, let’s go! Which latin girl doesn’t like to dance? Not me, that’s
for sure. OMG! Michael is a great dancer! He surprised me! I dance salsa, but
not too good. I can do it better if my partner is a great dancer and he was
just perfect! Unfortunately it was late and I had a business meeting next day
in the morning. My plan was having a glass of beer and leave, but Mike asked me
to dance, oh! I accepted and other surprise! He also dances very good! The
night was full of surprises, haha.
The next day, Michael told me that Mike took
Mmm, what does it taste like???
Well, I had to leave. But Michael wasn’t alone. Jim would
take care of him, hehe. And so he did! I would meet him the next day after my
meeting. Ok, it was time to go back home and try to sleep for the next morning.
