My flag!!!! Orgullosa de ser Peruana (Proud to be Peruvian) :)

I barely slept last night, woke up early today and went to the gym, haha. I didn’t know how, but I got enough strength to go to a meeting with a customer, having a presentation, having lunch with them and then: meeting Mike, haha!

I told him I would be busy during the morning, so I recommended him visiting a museum – which has a good collection of Peruvian Pieces. So he’d be able to know something more about the culture, before starting the big adventure to the Inca’s land. The museum was close to the restaurant, where I had lunch. So I picked up him straight after lunch. I was wearing formal clothes. Grrr, I forgot to take a pic of myself, so there would be no doubts Yadi works, haha. Actually Mike told me, that it just proves I have formal clothes in my wardrobe haha.

I asked him if he was hungry and he wasn’t, but he was in the mood for something sweet, haha. Ok, where to go? I got an idea! To get a refreshing cremolada, since it was warm and sunny, something unusual for our winter, hehe.  We went to the best place for Cremoladas. I knew I wouldn’t have time to go back home to change clothes before meeting Mike, so I had my backpack with jeans in the trunk of my car, haha. Always ready ;) Mike got a big cremolada and really liked it. It was perfect! While I was ordering mine, he asked to an old lady sat in one of the small tables, if he could take a sit there. She said: yes! I sat there too and the 3 of us started to talk. The name of the place is: “Curich”, which is strange because it’s not a word in Spanish, mmm. Actually is a last name from Yugoslavia.

mmm, an interesting story... "I don't believe his son lives in Wisconsin!!!"
And who was the lady? She’s the widow of the man who grounded this place 60 years ago in the north of Peru – Mr. Curich. He came from Yugoslavia, haha. She was so happy to find a guy who is living in East Europe, since she loves Yugoslavia. She was telling us about the story of this small but famous place, when she told us she had a son living in the States. Most of the Peruvians who move to the States, went to FL, NYC or LA, but her son is living in a small city in Wisconsin. It wouldn’t be anything amazing, if Mike’s hometown was nearby, haha. What a coincidence! The world is really small. We spent a great time sharing the memories of this old lady and her impressions about the world.
Proud to be in Peru, haha - I hope so...
Mmm, I will update my review of this place ;)

Well, it was time to go. We had make plans about meeting Cinthia and maybe Calum later at Huaringas – the pisco place. Ok, if we would do it, better leave my car at home. So, we drove in direction to my house, but it was still early, so we made a quick stop in “Surco Viejo”, the old part of the district where I live. Since, National Holidays were almost there, there was a fair in the Main Square, where you could try different Peruvian dishes. We were full, but it was the perfect idea for having dinner before drinking haha. We just took a walk around the small Main Square, while I was teaching Mike a bit about our history.

do you want to try?
He’s a great listener, always paying so much attention, Super!!!

What can I show Mike that he would find interesting? The SA TB Headquarters, haha. So we drove to my house. I also needed to get a jacket, since it was getting cold and I didn’t want to get the cold, no way! We took some pics at home and went back to Surco Viejo to get our dinner. We found the perfect parking place and started to walk looking for something yummy. Wow! The decision was difficult. So many dishes to try and just 1 stomach, haha. Of course all the vendors were so excited about the idea of a tourist there – because this place is visited mostly by locals – that they were offering samples of all their products, haha. They had “chicha de jora” the corn beer and Mike wanted to try it, since he read about it back at home.

ready to eat, haha
We also tried pisco and wine. Surco used to be a vineyard some time ago and there are still some wineries, but they aren’t something special. Anyway, finally we made up our mind and got for dinner different things so we could taste a bit of everything: 1- Tacacho with Cecina and chorizo (this is from the rain forest, the tacacho is made with plantains and the Cecina is like a ham and the chorizo a kind of sausage), 2 a slice of Peruvian cheese and cabanossi, 3 Chicken brochettes, 4- Corn in corb,
5 Cocona juice (soft drink made of a fruit from the rainforest).  Wow! It was a lot of food, very tasty by the way. But Mike couldn’t leave the place without tasting something sweet and he got some fruits with syrup, haha. Well, it was a small cup, just to try it.

Ok, time to go back to my house, park the car and go to the pisco place.

and he's trying the Maracuya Sour, holding an Aguaymanto hihi
Should we take a cab? Maybe, but I wanted Mike to get the whole Lima experience, so better take the bus, haha! I hope he didn’t mind it, hehe. Anyway, he wanted to experience Lima, so let’s do it ;) We were talking about almost everything but he still had a doubt: “How was Yadi’s life before TB?” haha, that question made me laugh but also made me think about that, mmm. Ok, I’d start thinking about that will be part of my TB anniversary’s blog, haha. We were just chatting and arrived to his hostel. He picked up something and we started walking in direction to the pisco place. Cinthia would meet us there. We could have taken a cab, but since we ate so much, better to burn some calories walking and it wasn’t that far away, just 10 blocks, besides the one who could have complained was me, because I was wearing hills haha.

We arrived to the bar and it was packed, wow! Mmm, it has 4 floors and we were lucky to find one table almost on the roof haha. The negative side was that we had to wait long for a waiter, but the positive was the view, hihi. But I have to be fair with the waiter. He could have taken a long time to notice us, but he was really kind and helpful. What to drink? Of course Pisco! We started with one with Maracuya (Passion Fruit) and I had one with Tumbo (a sour fruit from the rainforest). They both were tasty, yummy. Too tasty can be something dangerous haha. We kept on having a really interesting conversation when Cinthia showed up. She had troubles finding the place, haha. She got the traditional Pisco Sour and we were ready for the 2nd of the night, haha. This time I had one with Granadilla (a fruit like the Passion Fruit but sweet) and Grapes and Mike got one with Burgundy Grapes, which looked really purple, hehe.

mmm, what can I sing??? haha
There are so many flavors here and each one is good.

The 3 of us were chatting, taking things easy besides pictures of us and Cheburashka. He was a bad boy and joined us in a bar, haha. It was almost midnight and was time to leave. Mike had to catch a flight early next morning. His Cusco adventure would begin, how exciting! And I had to work, besides I was tired. It had been a long day…

I’d meet Mike after his adventures in the south of the country and we are thinking about exploring the old city of Caral together, haha. It was a long but fun day and more fun days are coming…
